MASONIC GRAND MASTER TO VISIT PENDLETON

On Saturday, October 27th from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, the Pendleton Masonic Lodge will be hosting a visit from Dennis Johnson, the Masonic Grand Master of Oregon. The event will take place at the Pendleton Lodge, located at 1350 N.W. Carden Avenue. In a change from their usual customs, the Masons will open their lodge to the public, starting at 10:45 am. Anyone who has an interest in Freemasonry or who would like to learn more about joining the lodge is invited to attend the event for a morning of "Food, Fun and Fellowship."

"We're really looking forward to it," said Matt Gerbrandt, Junior Steward of Pendleton Lodge #52, "Having the Grand Master of Oregon here is a real honor. It will also be great to open the lodge to members of the public so they can learn about the types of charities and activities the Masons are involved in."

Various informational topics will be discussed and plans for the year will be outlined. Many changes are afoot and this will be a great time to learn about them. There will also be a 'Question and Answer' session with the Grand Master in the "hot seat."

Johnson was installed as the Masonic Grand Master of Oregon in June of 2007. He is a graduate of Oregon Health Sciences University and is a US Navy veteran. During his Naval career, Johnson served in a variety of locations around the globe, including Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired from the Navy in 1998 and is now a resident of Salem, Oregon where he works as a maxillofacial surgeon.

Freemasonry is the world's largest and oldest fraternity. Its charitable organizations include the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, which provide free world-class health care to children under the age of 18. Freemasonry's origins have been traced to the medieval stonemason's guilds and the Knights Templar.
